If you’re 65 or over (50+ for Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people) and starting to need a little extra help at home, the Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP) might be right for you.

What is CHSP?

CHSP provides entry-level aged care services to help you stay safe, healthy, and independent in your own home and community.

Funded by the government, it supports older Australians who need lower-level assistance to remain living independently. It’s part of Australia’s commitment to senior care.

To be eligible for the Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP), you must be aged 65 or older (or 50 or older for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people).

You’ll need to undergo an assessment through My Aged Care, where a professional will determine the level of support you require based on your needs.

Whether you need help preparing meals or accessing ready-made options, our meals and nutrition service ensures you enjoy tasty, nourishing food that suits your dietary needs. We’re here to support your health while making mealtimes simple and enjoyable.

    You’ll also have access to expert advice from dietitians and allied health professionals if needed. 

  • Staying connected and active is essential for a happy, healthy life. VMCH’s social support services offer opportunities to join group activities, enjoy outings, or simply have a friendly chat. Our multicultural wellness groups are a great way to meet new people and share experiences in a welcoming environment.

    Need help getting around? Our transport service makes it easy to attend appointments, events, or social gatherings. 

  • VMCH’s allied health services are all about helping you feel your best, physically, mentally, and emotionally.

    From physiotherapy and podiatry to dietetics and speech therapy, our team of professionals is here to support your health goals with personalised care and expert guidance.

    We also offer home support services like occupational therapy assessments to ensure your living space is safe and suited to your needs. With VMCH, you’ll have access to holistic care that empowers you to live independently and comfortably.

  • Everyone deserves a safe and dignified home. VMCH’s hoarding and squalor support service offers compassionate, non-judgmental help to individuals facing challenges with clutter or unsafe living conditions. Our team works with you to create a clean, manageable space and connect you with ongoing support.

    This short-term program is fully funded and tailored to your pace, ensuring you feel respected and supported every step of the way.

CHSP funding

CHSP is a government-funded program, which means most of the cost of your support services is covered by the Australian Government. You’ll only need to pay a small contribution, known as an out-of-pocket fee. 

At VMCH, we’re proud to offer one of the most affordable CHSP fee schedules around, with fees starting from just $7.00. We believe staying safe and independent at home should be accessible to everyone, which is why we keep our fees low while maintaining a high standard of care.
